Climate Change Research Project 2012
A qualitative research project - joint collaboration with University of Erlangen Nurnberg- Germany – as part of an effort to introduce 360 degree environmental perspective into German school curriculum. Main participants – Schools from USA, India and Germany.

Food and Agriculture collaboration– Eating Green Project
A global collaborative project involving schools from USA (California, Hawai), Colombia, India, Pakistan, Zambia where students conducted general research about their countries agriculture, farming, GMO, food, food miles, diet, junk and fast food and sharing their presentation on live video with Q & A session. (Students took the trouble to come up with a common time which involved US students – 9pm & 5pm, Columbian students coming to school at 8pm, Indian & Pakistani students arriving to school at 6.30 am and students from Zambia waking up at 3am

Infectious Disease collaboration – Research
Students from Zambia, USA, Uganda, India, Kenya joined together to do this project and students had to identify the most common disease and present it live via video conference and in the presence of an infectious disease expert. Report from students from Zambia and Uganda were published in UN Chronicle.

Sustainable cooking & food - plastics & showcasing their community
Students from Botswana, New Zealand, Tunisia, USA joined together on this program to showcase some of their food culture but also wanted to share the plastic footprint starting from the time they buy and cook especially focusing on the packing. Students also made an effort to showcase about their culture and places of touristic interest.

Plastics and environment – Micro & Nano Plastic
Students from India, USA, Tunisia, Botswana collaborated on this and this started with a zoom session with Capt Charles Moore, pioneering oceanographer and environmental advocate, renowned for his research on plastic pollution in the world’s oceans. Students got to understand about Micro and nano plastics and later students also tried to make art forms from waste plastics.

Plastic Pollution Summit (Annual event)
Algalita’s Plastic & Ocean Pollution Summit is an immersive, youthcentered gathering that unites students, educators, scientists, and environmental leaders to confront the global plastic pollution crisis. As Algalita’s official international partner, GreenContributor plays a key role in identifying and selecting outstanding students from schools outside the United States to join their U.S. peers at the summit. Through handson workshops, expert-led discussions, and collaborative problemsolving sessions, participants examine the impact of plastic on oceans and communities while developing innovative, actionable solutions that support a more sustainable, wastefree future.
Sustainable cooking & cuisines - plastics footprint in your cooking
In this global project, middle school students not only showcased traditional cuisines from their home countries but also investigated each dish’s plastic footprint—from procuring ingredients to cooking, eating, and disposing of waste. By exploring locally sourced foods, cultural cooking practices, and sustainable alternatives, students gained a deeper understanding of how everyday culinary choices impact the environment, inspiring more mindful habits and planetfriendly food traditions.
